Abstract
Med je jedinstvena namirnica i zbog svojih izvanrednih svojstava privlačio je ljudsku pažnju još od davnina. Primjenjivao se u kulinarstvu, liječenju, kozmetici i konzerviranju namirnica. Suvremena saznanja iz područja medicine i nutricionizma preporučuje njegovu svakodnevnu upotrebu kod zdravih i bolesnih. Med je proizvod dobiven od medonosnih pčela koji nastaje složenom obradom prikupljenog cvjetnog nektara i sekreta slatkih biljnih sokova. Sastoji se od više vrsta šećera, vode, bjelančevina, različitih minerala i vitamina te drugih dragocijenih tvari koje su nam potrebne za normalno funkcioniranje organizma. Ukoliko se pravilno skladišti, med je gotovo nekvarljiva namirnica. Njegova primjena je najraširenija u prehrambenoj industriji gdje se može koristiti kao hrana, zaslađivač u proizvodnji slatkiša, u proizvodnji konditorskih proizvoda te kao sastojak bezalkoholnih i alkoholnih pića. Osim u prehrambenoj industriji koristi se i u farmaceutskoj industriji, u medicini te u kozmetičkim proizvodima.

Among the unique foods and for their outstanding characters attracted human attention since time immemorial. It has been used in cooking, treatment, cosmetics and preservation of food.. Contemporary knowledge in the field of medicine and nutrition recommended its daily use in healthy and sick. Among the product obtained from honeybees resulting complex processing of the collected floral nectar and secretion of sweet sap. It consists of several kinds of sugar, water, protein, various vitamins and minerals and other precious materials that we need for normal functioning of the body. If properly stored, among the almost non-perishable foods. Its use is widespread in the food industry where it can be used as a food sweetener in candy production, in the production of confectionery products, and as a component of non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages. In addition to the food industry is also used in the pharmaceutical industry, in medicine and in cosmetic products.
