Abstract
Validacija jest postupak ispitivanja i prikupljanja objektivnih dokaza s ciljem utvrđivanja da odabrana metoda služi namjeni. Validirane metode osiguravaju veću pouzdanost i vjerodostojnost rezultata analize. Ispitivanje vode na obavezni parametar nitrata zakonski je reguliran s obzirom na dvojbe oko mogućnosti stvaranja kancerogenih spojeva i izravan utjecaj na zdravlje ljudi. U radu je validirana UV spektrofotometrijska metoda, koja se koristi u rutinskom radu u laboratoriju ZZJZ PSŽ. Određene su sljedeće izvedbene značajke: linearnost, preciznost, ponovljivost, istinitost, robusnost, granice detekcije i kvantifikacije. Utvrđeno je da je spektroskopska metoda linearna s prihvatljivim granicama detekcije i kvantifikacije kao i s prihvatljivim iskorištenjem. Preciznost metode izražena kao ponovljivost mjerenja i međupreciznost zadovoljava preporuke granica prihvatljivosti za relativno standardno odstupanje kao i zahtjeve propisa. Izvedbene značajke određene u ovom radu pokazale su da je metoda prikladna namjeni, te je preporuka u daljnjem radu laboratorija koristiti validiranu spektrofotometrijsku metodu određivanja nitrata u vodi za ljudsku potrošnju.

Parallel abstract (English)
Method validation is procedure of fitness for purpose confirmation by examination and provision of objective evidences that the particular requirements are fulfilled. Validated methods provide higher reliability and authenticity in obtained results. Determination of nitrate concentration is obligatory chemical parameter when water quality is evaluated due to the potential effect of nitrates on human health. UV spectrophotometric method, which is used in routine work in laboratory of Croatian Institute of Public Health Pozega-Slavonia County, was validated. Following method performance characteristics were determined: linearity, precision, trueness, robustness, limit of detection and limit of quantification. The results showed that the spectrophotometric method is linear with acceptable limits of detection and quantification as well as acceptable recovery. Method precision was evaluated through measurement repeatability and intermediate precision. Relative standard deviations for both precision parameters are in compliance with proposed recommendations and requirements defined by law. Method performance characteristics determined in this work showed that used method is fit for purpose. Therefore, the validated method should be used in further routine work in laboratory for nitrate determination in water.
