Abstract
Također, pozitivan učinak pokazuju i glutamin, arginin, nukleotidi, te glukokortikoidi. Zbog manjka vitamina i minerala preporučuje se njihov nadomjestak uzimanjem različitih dodataka prehrani.

Cancer cachexia syndrome occurs in a large number of oncologic patients. It leads to uncontrolled physical deterioration that includes not only a body fat loss, but also a protein loss and causes many complications during the healing process. It has a marked impact on the quality of life and a mental state of seriously ill people. Cancer cachexia syndrome is a result of a variety disorders in the metabolism with expressed proinflammatory activity that is caused by cytokines from different cells. Nausea caused by a cancer or an anti-cancer therapy, gastric lesions and pain adversely affect food intake, deepening the state of cachexia. Cancer cachexia treatment requires an individual approach to each patient. The best nutrition needs to be thoroughly taught through and if necessary, introduction of enteral and parenteral nutrition. Nutrition high in omega-3 fatty acids, primarily eicosapentaeonic acids, has a beneficial effect on the cachexia treatment. One of the pharmacologically active substance that is used for the cancer cachexia treatment is megestrol-acetate. Glutamine, arginine, nucleotides and glucocorticoids have also shown positive effect on the treatment. Intake of various supplements is recommended due to the lack of vitamins and minerals.
