Abstract
Fruktoza je monosaharid kojeg nalazimo u malim količinama u voću, medu i nekim vrstama povrća u prirodnom obliku, dok je u obliku disaharida saharoze unosimo u organizam konzumacijom rafiniranih ugljikohidrata i prehrambenih proizvoda koji sadrže saharozu ili dekstrozni sirup. Zbog povećane konzumacije zaslađenih prehrambenih proizvoda, unos fruktoze u organizam je povećan te se pretpostavlja da bi uz općenito povećan unos rafiniranih ugljikohidrata mogao biti jedan od potencijalnih uzroka metaboličkih poremećaja poput dijabetesa tipa 2, prekomjerne tjelesne težine te uzročno i kardiovaskularnih bolesti. Glavninom se potencijalni utjecaj fruktoze na pojavu navedenih bolesti pripisuje razlici u njenoj aporpciji i metaboliziranju u odnosu na glukozu. Ovim će se završnim radom prikazati trenutne spoznaje o načinu apsorpcije i metabolizmu fruktoze.
Abstract (english)
Fructose is a monosaccharide found in small amounts in fruits, honey and some types of vegetables, while sucrose present artificial source of fructose present in sucrose and/or dextrose syrups. Due to increased consumption of sweetened food products, fructose intake has increased. It is assumed, that overall increased intake of carbohydrates including fructose could be the one of the potential causes of metabolic disorders such as type 2 diabetes, increased body weight and cardiovascular diseases. This undergraduate thesis will present current insights into the absorption and metabolism of fructose.
