Abstract
Pivo je jedno od najpopularnijih i najstarijih alkoholnih pića u povijesti, koje se dobiva nepotpunim vrenjem vodenog ekstrakata ječmenog, (rjeđe pšeničnog) slada uz dodatak hmelja. Slabo je alkoholno piće koje se proizvodi u procesu alkoholnog vrenja iz slada, hmelja, vode i pivskog kvasca. Voda je glavni dio napitka, dok se slad dobiva od žitarica, najčešće od ječma i daje pivu sastojke ekstrakta o kojem ovise punoća okusa i koncentracija osnovnog ekstrakta piva. Hmelj konzervira pivo i daje mu ugodan miris i gorak ukus, dok pivski kvasac izaziva alkoholno vrenje u kome šećer prelazi u alkohol i ugljik dioksid. Pivo je potpuno prirodan i biološki uravnotežen proizvod, pa se s pravom smatra "tekućom hranom". Energetska vrijednost jedne litre standardnog piva odgovara energetskoj vrijednosti jedne litre punomasnog mlijeka.
Abstract (english)
Beer is one of the most popular and oldest alcoholic beverages in history, which is made through an incomplete water boiling proces of an barley (rarely wheat) extract with the addition of malt and hops. Beer is a weak alcoholic beverage which is produced in an a process of alcoholic fermentation of malt, hops,water and beer yeast. Water is the main part of the beverage, while the malt is obtained from cereales, usualy from barley, and gives the beer ingredients for the extract of which depends the taste fullness and concentration of the main beer extract. Hops preserves the beer and gives it a pleasant odour, and bitter taste, while the beer yeast provoces alcoholic fermentation in which sugar turns into alcohol and carbon dioxide. Beer is an completely natural and biologically balanced product, and by that is rightly considered as the „running food“. The energetic value per liter of one standard beer matches the energetic value of one liter milk.
