Abstract
Banana je vrsta tropske biljke čiji plod spada u najkonzumiraniju hranu svijeta, budući da je dostupan tijekom cijele godine. Povoljno utječe na zdravlje svih dobnih skupina, te obiluje pozitivnim karakteristikama koje mogu pomoći u reduciranju rizika od nastanka brojnih bolesti. Brz je i učinkovit izvor energije, lako je probavljiva i lako se konzumira, što je vrlo bitno za starije osobe, ali i djecu. Banane su izvor vitamina C, B6, mangana i kalija. Dobar su izvor rezistentnog škroba, koji povoljno utječe na probavni trakt. Moguća je i tehnološka proizvodnja škroba iz banana, koji se najčešće nalazi u obliku brašna.

Banana is a tropical plant, and its fruit is one of the most consumed fruit in the world, because they are available all year. They have a beneficial effect on all age groups, and they have many positive characteristics which can help in reducing the risk of all kinds of diseases. Banana is fast and efficient source of energy. They are easily digestible and consumed, what is very immportant for the elderly and children. They are also a great source of vitamin C, vitamin B6, manganese and potassium. Banana is also a good source of resistant starch, which is beneficial for our digestive system. Technological production of starch from banana is also possible especially in the form of flour.
