Abstract
Upotreba dodataka prehrani je sve učestalija. Od dodataka prehrani najraširenija je upotreba vitamina i minerala, ali i omega 3 masnih kiselina, antioksidansa, vlakana te biljnih i životinjskih ekstrakata. Cilj ovog rada bio je dobiti uvid u navike uzimanja dodataka prehrani stanovništva istočne Hrvatske. Pomoću anonimnog upitnika ispitano je 466 odraslih sudionika o vrsti dodatka prehrani koji uzimaju, korištenim dozama te o razlozima i motivaciji za uzimanje dodatka prehrani. Ispitanici su kategorizirani po spolu, prebivalištu, statusu uhranjenosti i dobi. Ispitanici su najčešće odabirali dodatak prehrani iz skupine esencijalnih nutrijenata. Dodaci prehrani su najviše korišteni u svrhu terapije i prevencije, a većinom su odabirani na temelju preporuke stručne osobe. Redovito uzimanje dodatka prehrani najviše primjenjuju pretili ispitanici i ispitanici stariji od 70 godina.

Dietary supplementation becomes more and more frequent. Most widespread is the use of vitamin and mineral supplements, but omega-3 fatty acids, antioxidants, fibers and plant and animal extracts are also used. The goal of this study was to gain insight into supplementation habbits among population of eastern Croatia. 466 adult participants were asked by anonimus survey about the type of supplement they take, the doses of the used supplement and the reasons and motivation for supplementation. Respondents were categorized by gender, place of residence, nutritional status and age. Participants most often chose a dietary supplement from the group of essential nutrients. Suplementation is mostly used for therapy and prevention, and most of the supplements were selected based on a recommendation of a health professional. Regular supplementation is most frequent among obese respondents and respondents older than 70 years.
