Abstract
Podzemne vode prirodno su stanište željeznih bakterija čija je prisutnost utvrđena i u podzemnim vodama vodocrpilišta "Vinogradi" koja se koristi kao sirovina pri proizvodnji vode za ljudsku potrošnju u vodooopskrbnom sustavu grada Osijeka. Putem metabolizma, željezne bakterije prevode željezo u viši valentni oblik što uzrokuje taloženje željeza u cijevima pri čemu dolazi do smanjenja profila cijevi te smanjenja izdašnosti bunara. U ovome istraživanju ispitana je pojavnost željeznih bakterija u vodoopskrbnom sustavu grada Osijeka, odnosno, u bunarima na vodocrpilištu „Vinogradi“, u pogonu za preradu vode za ljudsku potrošnju te mjestu potrošnje vode. Pri određivanju željeznih bakterija, u ovom radu mjerene su i vrijednosti najznačajnijih fizikalno-kemijskih parametara: koncentracija kisika, pH, vodljivost, koncentracija dvovalentnog i ukupnog željeza te koncentracija mangana. Rezultati ukazuju da je sirova podzemna voda vodocrpilišta „Vinogradi“, uslijed svog fizikalno-kemijskog sastava pogodna za razvoj željeznih bakterija, no pri preradi vode u pogonu, odnosno postupkom aeracije vode, povećava se koncentracija kisika u vodi te nastaju nepovoljni uvjeti za željezne bakterije uslijed čega iste nisu detektirane u pogonu za preradu vode niti na mjestima potrošnje vode.

Groundwater is a natural habitat for iron bacteria whose presence was established in the ground water in water pumping site "Vinogradi" which is used as a raw material in the production of water for human consumption in water supply system for city of Osijek. By metabolism, iron bacteria converts iron in the higher valence form which causes deposition of iron in the pipes where there is a reduction of profile pipes and reducing the yield of wells. In this study was examined the appearance of iron bacteria in water supply system of the city of Osijek, respectively, in the wells of the pumping sites "Vinogradi" in the facility for water treatment and in the place of water consumption. In determining iron bacteria in this paper were measured values of most important physic-chemical parameters: oxygen concentration, pH, conductivity, concentration of ferrous and total iron and of manganese. The results indicate that the raw groundwater from wells "Vinogradi", due to its physicochemical composition is suitable for the growth of iron bacteria, but the water treatment by process of aeration, increases the concentration of oxygen in the water and creates unfavorable conditions for iron bacteria due which they are not detected in the water processing plant or in locations of water consumption.
