Abstract
Primjena metoda rekombinantne DNA dovela je do stvaranja genetski modificiranih organizama (GMO), kao i proizvodnje genetski modificirane hrane (GM hrana). GMO je organizam čija je DNA izmijenjena uvođenjem jednog ili više stranih gena i/ili modifikacijom postojećih gena, dok je GM hrana, hrana koja sadrži sastojke iz GMO-a, bilo da se radi o produktima GMO ili produktima životinja koje se hrane takvom vrstom hrane. Obzirom da postoji bojazan da bi konzumiranje genetski modificirane hrane dugoročno moglo dovesti do nepoželjnih posljedica, prije svega po ljudsko zdravlje, razvijene su brojne metode detekcije GMO. Upravo je cilj ovog završnog rada dati pregled trenutačno postojećih metoda koje se koriste u detekciji genetski modificiranih organizama i genetski modificirane hrane.
Abstract (english)
Genetically modified organisms (GMOs), as well as genetically modified foods (GMO foods) emerged from the recombinant DNA technology. GMO is an organism whose genetic material (DNA) has been altered by the introduction of one or more foreign genes and/or modification of the existing genes. GMO food is food that contains ingredients from GMOs, whether it represents the products of GMOs metabolism, or products of animals fed with GM food. Due to increased public concern regarding safety of genetically modified foods primarily for the human health, numerous methods for detection of GMOs have been developed. Therefore, the aim of this work is to give the overview of the currently existing methods for detection of genetically modified organisms, as well as genetically modified foods.
