Abstract
U današnje je vrijeme znanost veoma aktivna i mnoga se istraživanja provode na polju medicine i ostalih aspekata života koji utječu na čovjekovo zdravlje i njegovo poboljšanje. Jedan je od tih aspekata i prehrana, koja ima veoma važnu ulogu u čovjekovu rastu i razvoju. Kako mozak, kao najvažniji organ, prolazi glavninu rasta i razvoja u djetinjstvu, u tom je periodu pravilna i uravnotežena prehrana važan čimbenik. Znanstvenici naporno rade u nadi dokazivanja veze između razvoja mozga i prehrane te iako znanost nije još dosegla zaključak o načinu hranjenja koji je jedinstven i odgovarajuć za sve, ono što jest poznato kroz istraživanja je činjenica da prehrana bogata omega-3 masnim kiselinama, željezom, flavonoidima, kolinom, itd. osigurava pravilan razvoj mozga i jačanje kognitivnih sposobnosti.

Nowadays, science is very active and a lot of research is conducted in the fields of medicine and various aspects of life which affect and improve our health. One of those aspects is nutrition, which plays a major role in human's growth and development. As the brain, the most important of organs, develops most during childhood, healthy and diverse nutrition is a key factor during that time. The scientists work hard in an effort to prove a connection between brain development and food, and although there still isn't a universal diet which works for everyone, what is certain is that nutrition containing omega-3 fatty acids, iron, flavonoids, choline, etc. ensures a healthy brain development and strenghtening of the cognitive abilities.
